Does anyone have shaking issues running a 9” wide wheel? I have a 2020 Taco & will be putting a 3” leveling kit on it. Want to go with 285/70 17 tires and am having a really hard time finding the right wheels. The ones I like are only available 9” wide & Im being told to stay with an 8 or 8 1/2 or I’ll get bad shaking issues.
    Thanks, I appreciate any input!

No, you'll have rubbing, but not shaking. Unless you get cheap wheels/tires and they can't balance.

If you get wheel with a massive offset, where the hub is all the way to one side, any looseness in your wheel bearings will be exaggerated. That may be what they mean.

    this and that...
going with a 9" wheel is not gonna make your truck shake lol. not unless your lugs is not torqued down or theres some sort of imperfection with the wheel or tire, or maybe not balanced correctly. none of which has bearing on the width of the wheel.

Thanks for all the input! (A local tire store said they recommended not selling Tacoma owners anything over an 8 1/2 wide because customers were ultimately unhappy because they could never get the shake to stop with rebalancing etc etc) Is anyone running these Fuel wheels?

Just grab some SCS Ray 10’s. Look similar, but nicer.

Stop with the black wheels. I have them on my truck but feel like it’s so overdone. Get bronze or silver or even chrome.

I can't confirm but my understanding from others is that fuel wheels are cheaply made and heavy.

I can personally recommend @SCSPerformance wheels, mine have been great and Vin is awesome to deal with.

My SCS wheel just "click" right onto the hub.

Be aware Toyota wheels are HUB CENTRIC meaning the hub bares the weight and centers the wheel, the lug nuts just keep the wheel on the axle.

Get a good wheel with the correct sized hub bore or you could definitely have shakes, that's my suspicion if the tire shops is telling you Tacoma's have shakes they're not using hub centric wheels.

My SCS wheels are 17x8.5 with 285 75 17 tires, (34"s but they run tall) too wide a wheel and you're more likely to bust a bead on the trail when aired down.
