I’m looking for opinions on the General Spring 90-297HD 3+1 leaf pack. I’d love to hear anyone’s experience with the Gen Spring 90-297HD, especially from folks that stepped up from the OEM 3+1 packs. I emailed their customer support and they said generally the 90-297HD sit about 1.5 inch higher than the OEMs. Can anyone confirm the 1.5 on their application? I have a 2015 4x4 Sport with the 4.0 and it came with the 3+1 packs.

I searched the forum and all I could find were folks that went with the 90-297HDs from the older non TSB 2+1 leaf packs

I’m about to remove my Hellwig overload springs so I’m not sure about the condition of my 3+1 packs with 96,000 miles, so I just wanted to do some research in case I need to replace the springs, I bought the truck used and it already had the Hellwigs on. I’ve already received great recommendations on alternatives to the Hellwigs, such as the roadmaster active suspension, but I would only install them on my stock packs if they’re in good condition or on new packs.

    Thanks

I put those General springs on the back of my 12 dclb with a cap. It lifted it more than 2 inches. My stock leafs broke the third leaf of the 3+1 pack and within 2 weeks started to sag. To compensate for the rear lift I put 2 inch spacer in the front and the back still sits higher than the front. Good springs, I have no complaints with them at all.

There I updated a picture of my truck in my signature. The leafs were on for a few months already when the picture was taken so they had time to settle. Click on it to get a good look at how high the back is. One thing I remember about the install was I had to drill and tap a hole in the one bracket to mount a hanger for the e-brake cable. Other than that they were a direct replacement.

Thanks for the info. Your truck looks good and even though it gave ya a rear lift, it doesn’t look too high in the picture. Any driveline vibrations since the install? Have ya had a chance to load up the bed and if so with how much weight and how much sag resulted?

Here I posted some more pics to show how much lift those General hd springs give you. The 2nd pic is the front with a 2" spacer and the third shows the rear with the hd springs. The tires are Faulken Wildpeaks, LT265/75 R16. I have not had any real weight in the back yet so I don't know how much they will sag. As far as vibes go before I had vibrations around 25-30mph and now they are gone. My truck rides noticeably smoother now than it did stock. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Also wanted to say that the ride is stiffer with the new springs and the spacer in front, but I don't mind it at all. The shocks and struts are the original stock units on my SR5 with 87,000 miles.
