I have a LEER 100 XR on hold at the moment below is the quote i got for it.IMG_2650.jpg

Then i found an ARE MX series for $1500 and comes with the tracks and yakima racks already, which the new LEER doesn't have, but the catch is that it is a 7 hour drive. Do you guys think it is worth the drive or just get the new LEER?IMG_2653.jpg IMG_2656.jpg

Guess it depends if you want the warranty or not. You'll get that with the Leer since you would be buying new (I assume) but wouldn't be getting that with the used ARE. I originally had picked up a used Leer 100xl cap for my truck that was silver but ended up finding a used color matched ARE CXHD which I like a whole lot better and seemed better built too. Also the ARE already had a roof rack whereas the Leer didn't have a rack or tracks. Hope this helps

A 7hr drive is what, $100-$130 of fuel, one fifth the way to the next tire rotation, and 14 hours of your time? You’ll need to factor that into the “price.” Can you make it into a cool road trip so it isn’t a slog? Do you need bars what is probably slightly higher drag (slightly crappier mpg) of the MX? I do like that MX though. If I didn’t have a color matched shell and saw that one at that price nearby I’d go for it.

Hell with a new cap you could make a bigger road trip of it than that. Bring an air mattress or foamie, some camp food and make a week out of it.

I was thinking about that with the amount of fuel and time it would take as well. I do want to add Tracks/racks if i went with the new LEER topper so if i went with the MX I would somewhat save some money. ABQ to CO would not be to bad of a drive.
