Hey all. I purchased a complete rear and front differential with 4.56s from ECGS years ago. Was in Colorado and the rear end went out. I took it apart and found that the 8 or so bolts that hold the gear on (not the differential to the axle housing but the ones inside) had all backed out and had either been sheered off or just fell to the bottom of the housing. Had to purchase the core (mine was toast) and everything all over again. Only reason I am writing this is that my new set came with locks to keep those bolts in place which seemed odd. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

Sounds like they forgot to use loctite and/or didn’t torque to specs. The metal tabs to lock in place are extra insurance but not required if secured properly.

The new diff came with those. The other one did not have the tabs. Getting a bad shuddering when accelerating. Took it to the shop and they said the diff was making noise. Called ECGS and they said it wasn't the differential. Seems like I have some fun coming my way.
