Thought I might throw this out there for anyone who is interested. I am in the process of starting a company building customish offroad travel trailers. Basing some of the suspension off the front ifs system of 05+ ta comas because that I what I am familiar with. I have purchased most of the components so I am starting building and trying to move forward. Trailers will have 4 independent wheels, with easily replaceable and common to source Toyota parts for a long life span. 800 amp hours of lithium battery storage and 1200watts of solar for all your gadgets and to be able to run an air conditioner and a heater depending upon the season. Composting toilet, 40 gallons of water storage.
These trailers are being designed so you can hitch it up on a Friday and go out for a long weekend of exploring to be taken along any adventure you might find yourself in. There will be about 10 inches of suspension travel per wheel, empty weight of about 2000 pounds with a capacity for another 2000 pounds of gear. Ground clearance should be about 12 inches at the lowest point, with a frame height of 14 inches. As of this moment I am shoving a full mattress in there for me and my lady. And a twin mattress up front for all the pups, as I am not a kids kind of guy. For now I am just going to post up some teaser picks, but as the build gets going I will post more. I got a couple other projects I am juggling and hoping to gain some interest and maybe some down deposits to be able to deliver some trailers to other folks this up coming spring.

Unlike a good bikini, there’s a lot left to the imagination here. But I’m sub’d for progress.

Got the lower control arms threaded bungs all welded up. And got the lower mounts onto the spindles. Slowly but surely.

havent updated this in a while. But here is the progress thus far, had a couple other projects get in the way. Trailer will end up having about 20 inchs of independent wheel travel. 12 inchs of ground clearance. building trailing arms with the airbag mounts. using 12 inch travel airbags rated for 2000 pounds each. So suspension should have an extra 2000 pounds of weight capacity over the trailer. Havent decided yet if i need to use coil overs in conjunction with the airbags. Trying to keep this trailer overkill, but also semi affordable.

How much toe change is it going to have like that? I figured you would make the toe links parallel to the lower control arms to limit toe change under suspension travel.

The toe links are on heims with about 30* of play on either end while still being extremely solid and robust. I am hoping that articulation present in the heims will minimize toe angle changes thru suspension travel. The lower links are on poly bushings which are much more rigid, while providing a minimal amount of flex. Every link is also threaded on both ends and fully adjustable. Trying to keep things close enough, and hoping my local alignment guys wont bitch at me too much when I am ready to take it in for the final alignment. most suspension points are still more tack welded than fully welded thru, I just dont like making 5 steps forward and realizing i messed up a step and having to go back and redo. I am hoping to nock out the top control arms, this week, they have to be lengthened about 4 inchs each to reach the travel numbers i am looking for, and will be taking my time to position them to minimize camber changes thru the suspension travel.
