Nice truck. Too bad about the auto. Those old Toyotas just seemed natural with a manual box.

That’s a nice truck, I had a 1992 extended cab 4x4 with the 4 cylinder. It was sick, lol.

The 150 hp was a big step up from the 90 horse 22R. But they were still kinda dogs.

Ha! its a 3vze engine... 128k is alot of miles. If it was a 22re, then 128k is first oil change time.

Yet people on TW complain about 278hp in the taco :).

Ive never felt like 3rd gen was under powered. It does need higher rpms in the mountain passes though.

It's one of those vehicles that you can't really put a definite value on. "Book value" means nothing in this case because of the exptional condition. The old adage...."it's worth what someone will pay" certainly applies here.

Yea, I was sitting here just thinking of what type of deal it would end up being, and was having a hard time pinpointing it. I’ve spent 5-6k on worse things lol, that’d be all I’d pay though.

The 1GR and 2GR actually share a lot of architecture. The 500cc difference in displacement is do to the 1GR's longer stroke. That's why it's a bit more torquey. The shorter stroke of the 2GR means it able to rev more....and that's fine. It's designed that way.

It's a fine engine and has been serving Toyota well since 2004 when it debuted in the '05 Avalon. It's been used in countless Toyota, Lexus and Lotus applications for the last 16 years.

That said....you can wake it up by engaging the ECT and using some of the lower Sport gears.....assuming you have an auto.

I have 6MT with 4.30 rear diff and a premium SFOB tune:) My truck is very quick. This full otto tune really adds the low end torque and mpgs are the same or better, need to drive my truck more.

I had no real complaints on stock tune as well, except for high reverse and dead pedal feel. High reverse was fixed by 2WD LOW mod and dead pedal by the tune. Extra power is always welcome. I think this engine is great. Powerful, efficient and smooth.
