Amber DRL Boards

Started a project where one goal was to de-solder the white LEDs on the stock DRL boards and re-solder some pure amber LEDs. In the process I obtained a lot of excess practice boards that I didn’t actually need. I had some spare LEDs and made-up a set for sale.

These are stock DRL boards with amber chips soldered in place. These will function just like your stock DRL but will be a nice amber color. I used 1W chips that are super bright. The LEDs are offset on the soldering pads on purpose in order to avoid bridging.

Every bit as bright as the Diode Dynamics boards that go for $140 (I have the specs on the LEDs they use and the ones I used and they are virtually identical).

So far I have made 2: 1 set for my retrofit (not for sale) and 1 set for sale (in the pictures). I have enough LEDs to make another set for sale if multiple people really want these.

 

I'll take a set. I haven't done any research on the installation process, I think that's probably the only thing holding people back from jumping on this. I've seen the end result on a different truck and it looked real cool. It made me want to get rid of my morimotos.

Other than taking the headlights apart, these just drip right in? No extra work necessary?

 

I tinted the lens cover and diffuser for my retrofit and figured I'd show people what these boards look like when 100% lit up with the amber lens. They dim to 50% when headlights and parking lights are on.

 

So tempting.
