Holy crap another railfan! I'm from middle Georgia. Lots of CSX moving over the ex-Georgia Railroad from Augusta to Atlanta and NS kaolin trains moving south to Savannah.

Lets get this thread going! I enjoy catching shots of the trains thru Opelika before work if my timing is right. This morning was a good one. CSX waiting on a Norfolk Southern at the level junction. Here are a few of my shots.

Awesome pictures bud. If I remember correctly Opelika used to be a stop on the old Western Railway of Alabama.

Had CSX #1 come through Augusta about a week ago. Augusta has a pretty wide variety of train traffic with multiple CSX and NS trains moving daily

I had to look that up but yes you are correct. I only really see NS and CSX. CSX headed East/West are very frequent. About a year ago there was a BNSF engine on the NS in Opelika but I just missed it. I couldn't get down to my spot quick enough. I have also spotted a Union Pacific on the CSX line a few years ago.
I actually posted a video I made of that on my Instagram. Uploaded it to Youtube just now so I could share it in here.

I don't know much about the lingo and all that but I do like taking photo's of em!

Not a railfan, but I work on the RR. I'm sure there's some others in the industry on here.

I liked seeing the huge trains they ran out in WY when I lived out there it was a big rail town. Marvels of transportation in how much they can move. Here is an old abandoned train near windrock park that you can explore. It's pretty neat and cool story behind it.
