I think grease gun needs some sort of needle adapter. Never seen one before.

I would just remove it and install a regular Zerk Fitting.

Oh true. I had a box of grease fittings and none fit. Any idea the thread size? It was tiny. I don't know why it came with the needle one...

I have no idea what size it would be.

I would go to a parts store and see if you can match it up with their stock...

Okay I got all the new ujoints in. Ready to install the driveshaft back on the truck.

Question. When I removed the driveshaft I put a plastic shopping bag over the transmission where the shaft slides in. About 3/4 cup of tranny fluid leaked into the bag. Do I need to add tranny fluid right away before driving?

Never messed with the tranny fluid so not sure how to refill it. Do I need to buy Toyota tranny fluid?

I'm no expert, but from what I've read, just add how ever much is removed and it should be fine. Find the drain plug, and the fill plug will be above that. I would use OEM fluid, and do it soon. These things cost too much to repair to go cheap on fluids.

You have a 2.7 2TR-FE engine and the transmission has a dip stick. Drive it until it is at operating temperature then with the engine running in park check the fluid level on the dipstick. If it is low add until it is full. You can add fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel.

This is on a Camry, but the same applies:

thanks so much dude. I owe you a beer or 24. haha. I didn't realize you could add through the dipstick. I think cause the newer cars seem to have done away with trans dipsticks. Should I drive it or just idle it in the driveway until it gets up to temperature?

Should i stick with Toyota fluid? I have a bottle or ATF but its mastercraft a Canadian tire brand.

I tend to stick with what is in there, I don't like mixing if I don't have too.

I would just drive it to warm it up 3/4 cup is nearly nothing. The 4 speed isn't as picky as the sealed units IMO.

This is what is called for the 4 speed transmission in the owners manual: Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV

Here is the warning from the owners manual:

    ■ Automatic transmission fluid type (4-speed models). Using automatic transmission fluid other than “Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV” may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration, and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle.
