    $89.98
    ah yes, "all the expense"

    totally not an expense

am happy with how the lift looks every time I see it
was disappointed with how it looked stock every time I saw it

doesn't matter to me which way OP ends up going
but if the idea here is that a $90ish AAL is expensive
but upgrading to a 2018 TRD OR for $30k+ and $600/mo+ payments is not
    seems weird

Question. I have the 5100's ordered along with a Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL 1.5". How would the ride quality compare if I keep the stock coils and set the front struts at 1.75, or get a set of OME 884's and set the struts at 0? I want about 1.50 to 1.75 inches in the front and 1.5 in the rear.

Ride quality will almost always be better with no pre-load on the shocks. The 884’s, headstrong 2”, and eibach 1.7” springs will all put you in that 2” range.

My goal is to maintain close to the factory rake, maybe a little bit less. I'm expecting the rear to be right at 1.5 inches, but I don't want to go more than 1.75 if possible in the front, hence the reason I was going to stick with factory coils to begin with. I don't however want to sacrifice ride quality, and am wondering if the extra money for coils would be worth it.

A quarter inch Difference in spring height front to rear will be a wash and non-noticeable... side to side you can notice the “lean” because the drop is over a shorter distance. Not the case front to rear.

Don’t quote me, but any of the “standard” spring options will keep you close to a factory rake with a 1.5” AAL.

having ridden in both A pre-loaded 5100 Truck and an OME 885 truck, I’ll take the non-preloaded shocks any day.

“A good ride” is totally subjective though.

Very good point. If everyone liked the same thing in, life would be really boring. I guess as far as ride quality goes, my idea of a good "ride" in a modified 4x4 would be a stiff suspension with not a lot of body roll, but also able to dampen the small rocks and holes in the road too. I hate riding in a truck or car that you can practically feel the road surface as you drive. Makes driving just across town not enjoyable. I'll probabably grab some 884 just because of the lift height, and the positive reviews on here.

I have a 2006 Double cab and I recently got 5100's (front and rear) with OME 2885's with a Rogue offroad 1.5" aal in the rear. I put 17" 4runner TRD Pro's with Toyo AT3 285/70/17's on those puppies. It slightly rubs and i also got a cab mount chop, but i can take away the remaining rub witha heat gun to the plastic, but overall I love the stance and way it looks now, sorry i dont have pics.

Also the customer service at Rogue offroad is pretty unsatisfactory in my opinion, so i might look at Wheelers offroad or another site.

JMO and I dont pretend to be an expert. But I wouldn't lift in a million years. Too much $ for me. And then if you can't fix crap you're really in trouble. After you install the lift have fun with extending brake lines, upgrading suspension?, more wear on wheelbearings?, driveshaft issues? maybe more stuff idk.

Ever since I have lifted 2" I havent had any problems with brake lines, weird noises, or any driveshaft issues. However, I am pretty sure if you go over 2" then that is when you will probably start to run into these problems that you are talking about.

I wouldn't call them problems. It's just when you change one thing you got to change another.

    Hi Ryan,
Some good points were made here. You will be more than happy with the 884's and 5100's all around and AAL's in the back. It will be a nice ride on and off road and you will have some clearence when needed off road.
I have 885's Bilsteins and full OME springpacks for the extra weight I carry in the back and my ride is great. My BFG KO 2's E rated tires are great and not a harsh ride at all.

Please post pictures when your Taco is lifted.

@FJ to Taco what measurement do you have from center of hub to fender w the 885’s and what perch are you on? I’ve got spacers on front w/ the HD OEM Dakar leaf pack and want to redo front.

    Hey GFunk,
My 5100's are set on 0, My 885's give me the 2 1/2" of lift. It is the spring that gives you the lift which is ideal, I dont have my measurments with me but it is 2 1/2 " so no UCA's are needed.
spring rates have changed a little so here is a chart from https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/ whom I highly recomend.
    Coil specifications:
    • OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

@FJ to Taco thanks so much for the info. Glad to hear you are on 0 perch. I’d want those springs doing all the work too.
If you get a chance let me know what the hub to fender measurement is as I’d like to keep truck w stance I currently have w spacers. I like a little rake so when I tow my camper I sit level.
