I don't know how they get away with it but they definitely do. They will even go as far as getting used parts out of junk yards. I work for a dealership and we get the orders from the body shops. If we can't price match the parts that the insurance companies have given the body shops the insurance companies make them use other parts. The body shops say the insurance companies will send them parts to use. A lot of times they dont fit right and they have to make them work because that's what they are being forced to put on the vehicle .

A 14 year old truck is not going to get oem parts good luck. Unless toyota is willing to match the aftermarket prices or the guy pays a premium that says no aftermarket shit can go on his truck.

If you file a claim with your insurance or hers and had a little bit of a stiff neck you might get a bodily injury payout. Dont get greedy, but the individual that hit wont compensate for you physical pain or the rental car while your truck is in the shop.

Also think about it this way. You pay into insurance every month and you may never have to use it. The money you pay goes to the insurance company kind like just being added to a big pot and then that money pays for everyone's problems. Take your cut when you get a chance. If you dont you are screwing yourself over.

Good luck getting 6.5k cash out of someone. Especially for an accident, insurance no questions asked.

It depends on the state. For example: Michigan is no fault which means your insurance covers you and the other driver's covers them, regardless of fault. I'm not sure if the companies do anything on the back end or not.

It also depends on what kind of policy you have.

Personally I would tell the other dude to pay me $10k or I file it through his insurance. Kind of extortion but hey, next time pay attention driving.

File with your insurance, That's why you pay them. No your rate won't increase. You provide your insurance with the info of who hit you and they subrogate(make the other other insurance company pay for) the damages their insured caused.

Do not indicate you intend to pocket the money, some appraisers are scumbags and will absolutely short you. In the times of covid it's highly likely they will ask you to provide photos and they will create an appraisal based on that. Make sure you send way more than you figure they need. Looking at the photo, I see prob 5-6 hours per door of repair plus refinish time. I don't know the PA laws so they may reduce the refinish time and there's nothing you can do about that. Chances are they will write 2 LKQ (used) doors with a blend to the fender and the blend to the cab corner. I've said too much.....

Ya so the plan as of now is the following 10k cash if not I file against their insurance.

all said and done who cares. For those curious 10k comes from this.

Damage estimate plus 20% cause there is always extra shit.

I did the diminished value. And it comes up to around 3k
We all know that Tacoma’s hold their value.
