Trailer Brake Controller - PnP?

2021 TRD OR AC AT MGM

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.

My '06 has a plug under the left side dash for a trailer brake controller.
I'm close to taking delivery of my '21 TRD OR AC so I'm shopping for a brake controller for it.
Tekonsha's web site shows a PnP harness for a 2020 Taco, but if I change to a 2021 Taco there is no PnP harness and they say it has to be hard-wired.
I'm skeptical.
I find it hard to believe that Toyota would no longer provide the plug for a controller.

Does anyone know more than I?
