I'm fairly certain that if you don't pass you need to make another appointment cause they won't do it again right then and there. I may be wrong though. I didn't pass on tint once and told the inspector I'd pull it to pass and he told me I needed to come back the next day cause they won't do it again the same day. Coulda just been the inspector flexin his almighty power on me though
For me, I just plain forgot about them so that's why they didn't get changed out. In retrospect, mirror mounted indicators aren't a requirement for a vehicle to have so I think that's why they don't look at them or care. Now if your front or rear side markers or reflectors are tinted they may give you heat about it cause those are requirements to have

Shoot okay, I’ll go ahead and change everything back to stock to be on the safe side. Plus I don’t want to go back again for another inspection. I already did alignment after my lift last week but will have to go again since it won’t be valid no more.

Where can I buy some cheap mudflaps that won’t hurt the wallet? Since this is one time use? And anyone here willing to lend me some 3rd gen tail lights or sell for the low low? I still have my stock bulbs. This will only be used for recon. Again, I will just play it safe.

It's once a year use actually. Everytime you do safety you gotta do the dance. I keep my stock headlights, tailights, set of mudflaps and fender extensions for the yearly chore of safety check and keep a backup set of rims and tires for just in case use

Yeah that’s true. That’s why I always keep my stock parts, will do the same with my wheels and tires.

Checked the appt website this morning and was surprised to see an opening for today. Someone canceled. I snagged the appt and got my recon.

Just canceled the previous appointment I had for 10/16 2pm. Maybe someone will see this in time to grab um.

I called them a couple weeks ago and they only show opened appointments within a 4 week range. I forget if it's Friday, Saturday, or Sunday... But on one of those days, they'll open up a new week of appointments on the website. Demand is extremely high, so I suggest checking the website everyday. There is always a chance someone cancels their appointment like mentioned above. I was able to snag an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. Good luck.

I don’t think that statement applies with the current COVID-19 restrictions/mitigation.

Hey everyone I’m new to the site lol. I’m on O’ahu and lifting my 2019 Tacoma 6”, first time dealing with O’ahu’s dumba$$ recon. If I show up with my stock rims/tires on they won’t be exceeding the width of the truck so no need flares I think. Will I still need mudflaps though because it is lifted? Thanks!

Yup, if your tires don’t stick out past your fender, then no need flares.

When I brought my truck in, they told me that mud flaps are needed, front and back. This was back in January 2015 though, not sure if the rules have changed since then.

Okay thanks! I need mud flaps that are gonna come down far enough to 1/2 way down the tires, on a 6” lift. Any recommendations on where to get some cheap ones to throw on?

You can go to oriellys grab a pair for $15 and use a template to mark where existing bolts goes and drill the holes. I used a piece of plant tray and nuts and bolts to cover the gap.411F588F-294B-455F-BC51-79B1EFF8D213.jpg

I have rek gen mudflaps (black with red lettering) that I’m planning to get rid of now because my tires rub on them. If anyone wants to buy them can DM me.

Here on Kauai I had no issues with my lift, steel front bumper or tires sticking out. But they failed my inspection for my driver and passenger window tinting.
I was at 15%, need 35% or more light in to be legal. I asked for a razor blade and removed it on the spot so it would pass.
I see a lot of blacked out tinting and wonder how people get passed? Maybe they're retinting every year after getting safety inspection?

Yeah, gotta retint every year if you want it dark like that. Anything below 35% is illegal that’s why.

Are you getting different wheels / tires after you get recon? Asking cause if you change them, and they are different size, you’re “supposed” to go back and have them change your paperwork to whatever tires you have on the vehicle.
