On beach soft sand in 4x4 hi with tra off. But when I started to leave my tacoma violently started to buck in the soft sand. Finally stopped put it in 4x4 lo and it was ok.
Only had the bucking 2 times in the past and not sure why. Can anyone shed light on it? Thank you
    Edisme.

There was not enough traction to accelerate away at the speed you were trying to go in 4hi. 4lo allows much more control/ finesse which can be a big advantage in this situation.

If 4lo doesn't cut it, your next option is to air down to around 20 psi and you should be able to drive away no problem. If you drive on the beach often, I highly recommend buying a high quality air compressor (around $100) to air back up if you have to air down.

Too much skinny pedal for the amount of traction you had. Nothing is wrong with the truck.

I second the 12psi. Believe it or not. Out on Cape Cod 12psi is required by regulations.

Air down or dig out. Everyone gets stuck eventually no matter what you do. But I can guarantee you will definitely get stuck if you don't

    Tire pressure.

20psi is better than 35, but you can easily go much lower, like 10-15 in the soft sand.

Can even go lower if you really have to.

It's amazing what can happen if you get stuck in the sand and just lower the pressure by a few pounds.

10psi rear and 12 psi front lets me play in the sand without 4x4. I get stuck, but it's made me a lot smarter as a driver.

I don’t think I’m brave enough to go to 10psi without bead locks. 15 works good for me.

I wouldn't drive around with 10 psi, but you can go that low to get out of a bind, then air back up.

I knew a guy that would air down to 8psi all the time. no beadlocks. I remember he did eventually blow a bead, but he was in a pretty tight bind, crossed up in the dunes

For sure a worry. I’ve never blown a bead and have driven pretty hard — up to ~45mph, whoops, and sliding around at full throttle in the sand.
