Hey when I installed my new shocks on the front I torqued down my LCA Cam bolts while the truck was raised. Ive read this is a bad thing. I’m going to redo that today and get them snug before I lower then torque. I’m just curious as to why that is an issue and what kind of problems it leads to

Ok thank you, so does it affect the ride at all, does it mess with the suspension?

Yeesh, ok yea I’m planning to fix that today. I’m running the 6112s and they seem quite stiff so was wondering if that was part of the problem.

No nothing else changed. I even contacted bilstein to see if there was anything I can do and this was their response

“The tuning of the shock is set, and the spring rate is set. No changes to these can be made which means you will not be able to soften the ride. Ride quality is very subjective, and though we tune the 6112 kit at the highest level, it may not be for everyone. You can try lowering the vehicle a notch or two to see if that assists you with what you are feeling, but generally speaking that isn’t a typical complaint for us on those 6112 units, so I apologize that you feel that way, but no alternations can we suggest will make your truck softer in ride feel.”

so based on what they’re saying is that this is the ride quality on all settings and that doesn’t matter. They said I can try it if I want. But I really don’t know. I’m gonna fix this CAM bolt issue. Doubt it will help any but needs to be done.

If its lifted now, it needs an alignment anyway and they will loosen and adjust those at your request.

Ok, so finished up and took her for a drive. It surprising did help a little bit. Whether that’s in my head or not is up for debate but it didn’t feel violent when it hit little bumps like before. Took it to a little strip of dirt where I could get about 50MPH and it rode pretty good. Responded quickly. Either way that needed to be addressed so it’s done and I’m happier because of it. Thanks for the input guys, I’m still learning.
