I probably towed close to that with my 4.7 tundra from connecticut to mid quebec pulling a trailer with 3 sleds...2 of them heavy 4 strokes and gear a few times every winter. I average slightly better fuel mileage at 14.5 mpg gong 65 mph average. I kind of wonder what the v6 taco would of done on those same adirondack hills through upstate ny towing the same load.

I also had a 2006 Tundra with the 4.7. Great truck & it towed well. Also a snowmobiler & towed a similar load as you. Two sleds in a triton enclosed trailer (one of them a 4S Yami), a sled in the back of the truck, 3 men & all our gear. Towed from South Western Ontario to Timmins. Never needed to use tow haul mode & it never needed to downshift from 5th gear.
Now I have a 2016 Tacoma 3.5 AT 4WD. Don't have room in the bed for a sled, so now it's just 2 in the same trailer & 2 men. I tow in S4. It's never needed to downshift from 4th with this load. Unlike when I'm pulling my 4K lb travel trailer.
