Before you drop the big bucks on a TRD OEM part, consider core shifters, I got a short shifter from them, it's kind of a B&M short shifter clone, the B&M was probably the best but it's no longer made, this in my opinion is the next best thing, I think it's better than the TRD the TRD has an extra linkage which can lead to strange feeling or vague shifts and I've heard issues of it popping out of place and losing the ability to shift because it's a two-piece stick, basically your stock stick goes into an extension peg, I may be incorrect on this I'm not actually had my hands on a TRD one, but again core shifters highly recommend their short shifter It completely changed my shifting experience with my second gen. Only downside is noise increased a little bit with the solid hurst shift stick as you end up discarding your factory rubber isolated shifter.

I got the solid steel knob with no design, and painted it with VHT crinkle paint to give it a little bit of a grippy texture.

    It's holding up quite nicely.

You'd think. Be he said something to the effect that my truck is old enough now that it won't reference this part to the truck or some such nonsense. I'll try calling another dealer and see if they can figure it out.

I paid $270 for mine. Shop around on the Toyota parts site. Different dealers have wildly different prices. Try EB Toyota in Attleboro. They were the cheapest, and quick shipping.

I put this sticker on right after the TRD Quickshift install

Can’t go wrong with the TRD shifter. Had it in my 2015 for 5 years and it was probably my favourite mod on the truck. Here’s a side by side pic that I still have, TRD on the left, OEM on the right.
