Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Looks like it could be an interesting ride - found it on Google map. I have to pick up an item in Burlington soon (hopefully next week) but I'm not sure if I'll have time for a side trip OR if I'm ready to take my brand-spanking-new TRD OR AC off of paved roads.

I've been. It's pretty cool, but I didn't go into the structures because I had my dogs with me. I'd go back up for more poking around sometime.

I hit the base at least once a year. The road may be posted until after mud season. By pass the road block at your own peril, it's a $300 fine if you get caught driving up to the array.

All the research I’ve done the land is a diff owner than the buildings. The land I heard is owned by a forestry company and promotes outdoor rec so I wouldn’t think they have a issue but the buildings I would think be a big liability for the owner.

Talked to a local and he said they go up all the time in their atv clubs it’s one of those things it’s illegal but if you’re not being stupid no one is bothering you.

But the real gem is the network of trails/roads up in Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Game Refuge. North side has a beautiful lake and the south side is very expansive. In the pic below you can see the radar base in the top right corner.

Rumor is there are nukes buried on the back side of the mountain, and that the Betty and Barney Hill UFO encounter had something to do with the that base and the nukes. Probably just urban legend, but it makes for a good story if you are wandering around up there.

    Welp.

This is Radar Rd just north of the DPW building.

I haven't been up in a few years, but I don't remember the concrete blocks. The last time I was there I was able to skirt the gate in my truck and drive to the top. I'm not sure you could do that today even if it wasn't snow filled.

Well I'm guessing this didn't help matters, probably started to take blocking off vehicle traffic more seriously.

Yeah, that's some bullshit there. What kind of asshole does that and ruins it for everyone else...

Might be seasonally blocked, I know last time I was up there during snowmobile season they had it blocked off, never had an issue in the summer getting up to the barracks. the road to the radar array has had a road block forever. I can tell you there is a more than one road that will get you around that road block if its where I think it is. I usually come in from the power lines.

$2100 recovery for someone this winter in a tacoma who got stuck on the VAST trail trying to get up there. Probably the 5th one of season. The groomed trail gives a false sense of security until it doesn't. Once you hit entrance, our groomer goes right so turning around iffy. I know about this one because we were heading back home from a day sledding on a Sunday night around 6 pm zero degrees and they were hung up not prepared. We rode them double (two big boys) to warm shelter and food then a skid steer with tracks got them out the next day.
I live 20 minutes from here and have enjoyed it in both seasons.

This looks like such a neat place to explore! I'm jealous that y'all can take of and "ride through the woods" and find places like this.
