I was contemplating on getting the low profile mounts with some CaliRaised 2x2's.

I have Caliraised brackets with Rigid D-SS lights in driving pattern. The Caliraised pods are probably fine, but I would go with Rigid if you can. It's pretty much daylight for 50-75' around the truck.

Nice! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into the Rigids

For running trails at night. They light up the area around the truck better than headlights.

Are you able to drive sideways???

Most conventional 4WD and 2WD can only go forward or backward.........

You must not off-road much. It's nice to see what's next to you on a tight trail.

I don't understand. If the obstacle is beside you......how can you run into it???

Didn't you see the obstacle as you were approaching it????

It's not a matter of seeing things as you approach. It's nice to keep an eye on things as you are squeezing by.

It's also just nice to have a good view of everything around you.

I was a little uncertain before I bought them as well. Believe me, if you had some, you would love them.

Actually, no desire to off-road. Driving in IA during the 6 month winter is enough. I'm mostly just curious.

Thanks on the dog. He is an amazing companion. I got him while I was on work contract in China. He helped remain sane.
I'd highly recommend a miniature schnauzer to anyone. They are not a fru-fru dog. Very robust. High intelligence.

I've got the Cali Raised low profile brackets and I love em. Lowest profile I could find. Originally just ran some cheap-O Auxbeam Side Shooters, and they did an admirable job, especially for the price. Recently installed some KC HiLites Flex which are definitely brighter, but the brackets are so low profile that the supplied bolts bottomed out and I had to take a hacksaw to em. Pure function, I'd agree that the Rigid Side Shooters are probably the best out there, I just preferred the look to the KC flex. But if this isnt something you're gonna be using all the time, those Auxbeams may be all you'd need.

I’m not really fan of caliraised lights, I have their side shooter things.

I’ll be taking the pods off my other truck that’s dead and putting them on my newer one.
    I think they’re basically these

As for uses of ditch lights, I use the shit out of mine when I look for lion tracks

Ditch lights also help identify side roads or trails at night. Its easy to miss a turn, but running ditch lights helps out here quite a bit. Same with side roads in rural areas where there arent street lights. If I am on an old county road somewhere, I will turn on my ditch lights often if there are not other cars around when I know I have a turn approaching..

I'm still waiting on brackets to ship, but I can see them being helpful seeing deer getting ready to try to jump in front of you in country road areas.
