I have a head gasket that is weeping oil.

I would like to replace it. I have taken it to several toyota shops here in the valley. They say based on the miles 170,000 that the cost to replace the gasket and have the head resurfaced and the valves taken care of, it would be better to get a remanufactured or used engine.

Do you guys know of anyone in Arizona that sells quality remanufactured 2trfe long blocks???

Or a toyota engine builder here in Arizona I can take my 2trfe to be rebuilt???

    Thanks

Reach out to Joe GMG Fab, he does a lot of engine swaps in toyotas and might even have expertise to rebuild that top end of your motor specifically. I’m not sure! Can you post some pics? Mine weeps but the truck is never low on oil that I’ve seen.

Best bet is to just call him tomorrow am. He is kind of a 1man show. Tell him Tyler rice referred you & ask your questions. He might not be able to help but he also might be able to help. I’m not sure!

Are you sure it is the head gasket and not a valve cover gasket or the timing cover gasket?

It makes a huge difference. Valve cover gaskets leak oil more so than a head gasket and they are simple and cheap to replace at home.

Post up a picture, lets see what you have.

Thanks for all of the responses, I took my truck to GMG and spoke with Joe. He has a mechanic he uses and I am taking it to him on Monday.

    Here are some pics.

    1. pic, arrow is pointing to a leak that seems to be from the head gasket.

    2. pic, show the front main leaking a little... by the alternator.

Did you tell Joe I sent you? He’s a great fabricator/mechanic. Your truck will be in great hands with him and whomever he trusts for this job

Hey Guys thanks again for the contact info.

I took my truck to see the mechanic Joe uses at GMG Fabrications. We looked at for a while and agreed to put dye in the oil to see where the leaks are, he said it was not leaking a lot which is true. I am going back to the mechanic later this week and look for leaks with a black light. Joe and his mechanic are good people. Thanks
