Did 148 miles today with some good friends, explored all over the Laurel Highlands of PA. What a great way to finish out the riding season!

    None... yet.
I had planned to hop onto Skyline Drive early this afternoon for about 30 miles and then "ride the mountain" between Sperryville and Luray. I ended up taking the regular highway as the line to get into the park was about 1/4 mile long and growing quickly. The ride there was pleasant, and I snagged a couple of pics on the way...

I was a little worried that the second one was a bad omen as that's my first name! I "steeled" myself, however, and continued on! Made it up one side of the mountain and down the other with no worries, but noticed on the way down that the line into Skyline Drive at this entrance was easily a half mile long and knew I'd need to be careful coming back up that side. After turning around at the bottom, I set a nice pace but, upon rounding a turn only a mile later, I saw 3-4 cars pulled against the guardrail on the other side, as well as a car pulled over on my side. I slowed waay down and then saw a motorcycle crumpled against the guardrail between the cars. I pulled over in front of the car on my side, got my helmet off, and ran to the accident. No one seemed to really be doing anything so I asked if anyone had called 911. A woman said that no one had service so I asked if anyone had checked the motorcyclist. Another woman said he had said his hips hurt but otherwise felt okay. I told her to keep him on his back, leave his helmet on, and I'd ride to the top of the mountain and get a park ranger to call the rescue squad. So, off I went! Got to the top, rode as close as I could to the ranger station, and ran the rest of the way. I'm sure the line of cars were wondering "WTH???" Before I could get a word out, the ranger asked if I was there about the wreck. I said "yes" and she said the rescue squad was on the way. I ran back to the bike, turned around, headed down and stopped a good ways up from the wreck to signal everyone to slow down. It was crowded and a lot of bikes were moving... briskly. A few ranger vehicles came past but none of them sent anyone to direct traffic or set up flares. I guess I was doing a good enough job?

After about 45 minutes, a truck coming up from the wreck area stopped and asked me if I was okay. I asked if they had seen the wreck and they said they had seen some glass and plastic on the side of the road but no wreck. I thanked them for letting me know and realized that, after standing in the sun for that long in my black leather suit, I was kinda tired. So, hopped back on the bike and headed back home! In hindsight, I probably should've verified the condition of the guy, let him know I was going for help, and encouraged him to stay put (he was already on his back) until help arrived...

Took a couple more pics on the way:

    Beautiful day out! 120 miles.

Notice a rattle of some sort between 3600-3800rpm. Gonna have to prod around when she cools off.

    Get out and ride y’all!

Motorcyclist who ride in the left lane and 10 mph below the speed limit royally piss me off while driving. Even more so when the light turns yellow and then all a sudden they have a sense of urgency to get through it and start going the speed limit.
