When purchasing a USED vehicle, when determining a price would you likely use Kelley Blue Book & trending market value or MSRP (is MSRP even relevant when buying used)?. Also should you also look at a CarFax? Trying to settle a disagreement. Thanks!

Never looked at msrp when purchasing a used vehicle. KKB, Edmunds, True Car, etc. are not bad for a guide. I also check the internet and local papers for ads on used cars to get an ideal of what vehicles are going for in the area.

MSRP doesn't factor into used vehicle prices at all. That would be like saying, "This TV was $1,000 when I bought it 5 years ago" and trying to justify selling it for more cause that is what it cost new back then.

What matters is condition, features, mileage, and local market for similar used cars.
