$90 for an oil change damn. Get a coupon for Valvoline shop. They always have like $15/ $20 off.

I did my own oil changes for years on many different vehicles. At this point in my life, I'm tired of crawling under any vehicle, getting oil every where and having to dispose of it.
Now I buy a Groupon (Valvoline) for $45 for a full synthetic oil change and I'm done!

I'm still doing all my own oil changes, except for on my work truck and my GF's Porsche, both of which have to go to a shop since my work truck is on a lease (and maintence is covered as part of the monthly lease payment) and my GF's Porsche is not user-friendly, so it goes to a specialist.

That being said for me, doing it myself saves money (my Taco is one of five cars and trucks I own, I also own and maintain some MC's and ATV's as well) I have all the tools, a garage and actually enjoy doing to work however if I only had one car I'd probably just pay someone to do it for me.

I used to do oil changes for friends and family, but that started getting out of hand to the point where I was doing one car at least once a week and an oil change generally led to more involved repairs which took more time or I'd get blamed for something unrelated on the car going wrong. You've been warned :D

Thank you! :) I'm in an apt so doing my own maintenance is not really practical...

Proves the fact that dealership lies...I wouldn't trust them with much!

Not to mention that some people were never shown the “Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty” rule. These people would be better off letting someone else take care of under the truck stuff.

The problem being when your friends are 45 minutes away, or all live in the city, leaving you back at square one. Unfortunately for me, I think my self oil change days are over until I buy a house, which isn't going to be any time soon in this market.

I just came back from the dealership having a oil change it was 65.00 but I had other stuff done as well. I would suggest that you look at your owners manual. The dealership told me I needed my front and rear diff fluid changed. I have a 100,000 miles My gen2 I never changed my diff fluid and I put 250,000 on it. They also told me I needed some other stuff done as well like wiper blades and air filters. Oh well money money money

I have a love hate relationship with oil changes, as I'm also tired of crawling under vehicles, the mess, and then disposing of the used oil.

But at the same point, I hate the up-sells at dealers and quick change places, and with vehicles with skid plates, I've had them both let oil run down them and then not clean it up.

That would fall into the "not knowing how to do it" category. But that's ok. Not everyone was exposed to that sort of thing in their life. My next door neighbor is an engineer. Super smart guy.....WAY smarter than I could ever dream about being. Very hands on too. But automotive work was something he never really did....or his dad before him. So over the years I've been showing him the ropes on basic repairs and maintenance....oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, etc. He's to the point where he does most of that on his own now. He even recently did a spark plug change on one of his Camrys. Other than a little guidance from me he did it by himself. He was quite proud of himself too.

Often times there's too much judgment for people not doing their own OCs. People have their reasons. I respect that. No hate here.

WITH tow pkg - 6.2 qts.

My dealer pretty much runs this special all the time. Granted it is only "up to 5 qts", but sometimes the service writer points that out and says "but I'm going to give it to you anyway".
