I have an 06 Tacoma with around 156k and either my cruise control, or my clock spring failed last week. I was leaning towards my clock spring being shot because if I turned my steering wheel either direction (while idle) and attempted to engage CC, nothing happened. Incidentally, a year prior I upgraded my base steering wheel to accept steering controls/airbag and a new clock spring was required..Wondering if that new clock spring was a cheap piece of garbage. But I started off by replacing my cruise control since I used it heavily over the years (a lot of highway miles) and the problem persisted. Replaced the clock spring and it now appears the issue has been resolved. Both CC and the clock spring are OEM replacements found on Ebay....as far as I know.. I did not purchase either replacements from my local stealership because they quoted me $305 for just the OEM clock spring.

Just a bit of info in case anyone else is having similar problems.
