2021 MT Tacoma Rev Hang

Well that answers a question for me as well. I have read about this "rev hang" but never experienced it -- I'm a cruiser not a racer, with my style of driving I haven't ever approached 5000 rpm. Yeah, I'm pretty slow...

 

Nothing wrong with that! You are saving fuel and the planet. 90% of time i do drive for economy.

Although, the engine does need some italian tuning once in a while especially this high revving v6.

 

I do "tune it" occasionally, put your boot down in third gear on a long hill and this thing will rocket up the hill, fun!

I miss the good old instant response of a carbureted 350. FI on every thing ever made is like gaming with a 500ms ping.

I remember when my truck was just past about 1000 miles, decided to rev the bitch out and speed shift it like I used to do my old Mustang GT...holy rev hang, batman!

I've learned how this truck likes to be driven, I don't even notice it anymore.

I went driving twice yesterday to backup my theory and I have seen an improvment. I think now If I can get the muscle memory so i can duplicate it everytime, I will be happy. LOL

 

Rev hang is meant to reduce emissions. When you take your foot of the accelerator the the air fuel mixture becomes lean suddenly and increases NOx. Also it helps to protect your oil from consumption. Still annoying.
