I hooked up an Alpine ILX W650 to my truck and took out the cigarette lighter, I put a USB pass-through connected to the headunit instead. When I plug an iPhone charger into the phone and this USB passthrough, Apple CarPlay connects to the headunit and works great. My question is, I found this phone holder equipped with wireless charging. Is it powerful/smart enough to run Apple CarPlay when a phone is plugged in? The setup would have the phone holder's wireless component plugged into my existing USB passthrough, and then whenever I snap the iPhone into the holder, CarPlay would activate. I don't think the technology is there yet for data transmission via wireless charging.

Yes, this problem is solved with Wireless CarPlay, but due to the tech required for that amount of data transmission, those headunits are upwards of $600, hence why you only see them in the newest of cars straight out of the factory.
