Would a rear locker have helped me out here? The first time, one wheel was spinning and just throwing water up and out. I was going to spend my Christmas bonus on a front bumper and winch, but now I'm thinking a rear locker would be a better investment...

Based on how you describe it (one wheel spinning, other wasnt; limited slip diff) I think a rear locker would have helped. Hard to say which makes a better investment because either would have gotten you out (assuming you had an anchor point wherever you got stuck).

A locker would probably have been quicker to get you out but both would probably work.

I have learned my lesson about not wheeling alone... Water was quickly rising through my door seals, so if it weren't for @JDUB-Fabrication @Brownmatthall and @Zoey'sTaco springing into action, my interior damage would be way worse. Big shoutout to significant others as well, they were invaluable

The first time, I hooked up a tow strap and left it in the bed. When I got stuck, JDub jumped into the bed, threw the strap back, and we hooked to Matt's truck. The second (Yes, I did this twice in the same day. Two different puddles) Zoey'sTaco (Don't know if he's ok with his real name here) backed his truck to mine and waded into the water and hooked me up. I think a winch would have taken way too long, so a locker may be better since I try to wheel with other people

Also need mud tires I think because I love this stuff

Here's a pic of @Zoey'sTaco being my savior

That photo makes me love my electric stihl just a little more. Yeah I'm missing some tq, and batteries ain't cheap, but I'll never do anything besides sharpen my chain or replace the bar and it starts instantly 100/100 times.

    Mud tires - clearly.
    door seals. because, oh, yeah.
    Now imagine this...
You have a fiberglass antenna that screws into a spring base (like CB whip antenna). Spring base mounted up front/drivers side, aimed forward - not upward. Tow strap clipped to front of vehicle & runs out to end of antenna, excess length looped & somehow attached to top end of antenna. Antenna on spring base bent back towards cab & tied off. So like the oldsters did in the '50s, you've got a whip antenna looped. If you get stuck in water again & need a front tow, you release your tie off from cab & let antenna & coiled tow strap spring forward so it's sticking straight out in front of truck for easy access, if the 'puddle' isn't too wide. Keep your buddy out of the water next time maybe.

Dunno. It's an idea. If you love mudding (who doesn't?) there should be an easy way to throw a strap forward. That's what I'm coming up with ATM. (or a really strong drone - LOL). Of course you could just loop it around your door mirror & toss it to someone if need be, but that's not very MacGyver.

I like that idea a lot! I was able to crawl out of my window to the bed at least this time but yours seems so much cooler. And being 15 years old, new door seals couldn't hurt

Maybe I'll finally use this as an excuse for a Can Cannon, so I can just launch a coiled tow strap as far as I need!

Yea, this became a little more involved than originally anticipated. I ended up having to pull the starter recoil and flywheel to get good enough access to put the new oil line in.

New oil line is in, flywheel and recoil starter are reinstalled. Just trying to grind through my day job so I can get the rest of the thing put back together this afternoon. In the end, its well worth it to keep this awesome little saw going.

they are worth keeping for sure, I just remember all the headaches my dad had growing up and it scared me off owning one. Honestly the battery powered ones are a God-send to me, because I have a ton of little shit I need to cut constantly.

Funny you mention the small stuff. I have been using my 362 for EVERYTHING, but at just over 13 pounds and with my smallest bar being 18 inches its way overkill for any smaller stuff.

Our family friend swears by their electric stihl. Based on everyones feedback, there might be one of those in my future at some point.

I'm another Stihl battery user - currently have an articulating head pole hedge trimmer and the commercial series (90) head weedwhacker. Using a 300 series battery. I wouldn't hesitate to get another. I actually cracked out the gas powered saw (Stihl too) last weekend. Battery would have been more convenient. Now I have to run it out of gas.

I do the trimmer and blower too, all share battery’s, 300s or bust I agree. I love my saw, my brother and father do too. They can do a lot for their size and if needed can step up for a bigger one across the trail...just kills the battery sooner. I have two which seems enough to do whatever I’d want to do with it before I got tired.

Ok guys hear me out, I swear I'm not a complete redneck...

A lot of guys here run OBA, whether it's for tire inflation, air lockers, or both. Has anyone ever run OBA to also power train horns?
