A little more context. I was not experiencing any issues before the replacement.

Picked mine up late Friday after fuel pump replacement and now it is difficult to start. Have to hold the key for about 5 seconds as it struggles to turn over. Does it when cold even after sitting for just 5 minutes. Never had the issue prior to replacing. Sounds starved for fuel? Not happy to have to take it back.

My 2018 Sport is sitting in the shop right now for this. Dropped it off at 8 a.m., I got the call last week the part came in. They said it will be done today.

My 2018 SR5 was done today. Dropped off at 7am and picked up at lunch. Never had any issues with old pump. Tech did leave the negative battery cable loose. Hope this is the last recall.

Update, Service called me and stated the fuel check valve failed which has nothing to do with the fuel pump! I understand they are two separate items but you cannot convince me the valve failing immediately after replacing the pump was not connected in some way. Because "it is a safety issue" they will not release my truck until they get a replacement and fix it, in two to three days.

I received a text for the recall but when I called in, they said the recall solution wasn’t ready and they would notify me once it was?

    I have recall # 20TB02

Just received my recall notice from Toyota. Made appointment for this Friday morning. Said they have done many recalls and should only take a few hours.

Just traded a 2018 ORD (Mexico build) for a 2020 ORD (US build), both used and very low mileage. Had the previous truck about 15 months, including the fuel pump recall (not performed yet), has the pinging at low speed, possible valve issue, known gearing issues. I couldn't live with it. The 2020 (2/20) feels and drives like a totally different truck. Amazing actually, responsive, no pinging. Performs like I wish the first one did. I had no idea what I was missing until the trade. Enjoyed driving the first one but this one is sweet. It is my 6th Toyota truck but most fun to drive. I checked the new vin for the pump recall and it was negative, for now. I think it was luck of the draw....

You can lookup your vin number on the Toyota recall website. www.Toyota.com/recall

Check online Toyota recall site and enter vin number and pinging is when air and fuel mixture within an engine cylinder ignite incorrectly.

Interesting ... I was at the dealer a few weeks ago and they looked up my truck and told me there was no recall. I just went to the web site only find this:

Pinging is just a normal ping, only with an -ing attached :D. I cant describe the noise it made accurately but sounded like there possibly was a fuel/air mix ratio issue? Sounded like a truck that needed 92 octane and was using 87..? And, yes, I used 87. My 2018 truck had several issues similar to those that I read about on this forum. The 2020 has none, so far. I will admit, I am the last guy on the planet to diagnose most vehicle related problems. Hop in, push start, GO!

Will toyota send out something in the mail, or do I have to find out on my own?

Getting my pump replaced as I type. Asked service writer if I could see my tank and pump assy before it goes back up so I could just see any possible areas that20201111_100342.jpg 20201111_100442.jpg 20201111_100437.jpg 20201111_100446.jpg 20201111_100335.jpg might cause concern later.
So far pretty painless and the dealer seems willing to accommodate my little requests. Hope all goes well.

Would guess that you would have received a notification by now if this was a issue with your truck.:notsure: Or they are just taking on vehicles at a pace they can handle.

Had mind done today.....2 hours in and out. The advisor told me they have done hundreds of vehicles so far and they have not had any actual pump failures. Glad it's done and hopefully this will be the last recall.

Call me the unlucky one, fuel check valve replaced, fuel system pressure drops and truck stalls. Toyota kept the truck another day. Replaced fuel low pressure valve, fuel system pressure drops, truck stalls. Toyota is keeping the truck another day to replace the high pressure fuel valve. Once again, it ran fine before the recall repair.
