I don't have a hard top, but it is still a no-name/newcomer-name tent. I have the Raptor Series Offgrid Voyager tent in the links at the bottom of the page, and it's basically the original/older design of the Freespirit Recreation Adventure Series tents. The tent itself seems really well-built, just as comfy as my old FSR High Country. Although it's a different style, it has very similar tent features like the density of the mattress and aluminum frame and high density foam base w/ waterproof cover instead of fiberglass. The canvas is thick and feels as strong as my old FSR, and the seams are really well attached and sealed heavily (very visibly evident inside). The mounting hardware is also the same as I received with my old FSR.

The cover isn't the best, though. It does its job at covering the tent and does have plenty of room to allow storage of sleeping gear inside the tent, but the straps aren't the heaviest of duty and the cover material is thick-ish but doesn't quite feel as top-notch as the big names. I got a strap caught on my lemon tree as I backed out of my driveway and it tore the strap and a hole in the cover. I will say that Raptor Series' customer service took care of it immediately and were very friendly.

Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase after using it a couple times. Time will tell if that changes, though.

Edit: @chowwwww I have some pics here in my Land Cruiser build if you wanna see the tent

Maybe bring it to a boat or RV place that could completely shrink wrap it?
Stuff it with bounce sheets when you pack it up.

Looking at some RTT's now. I see CVT shasta extended fly, which is needed to have the included annex cover the ladder, @ $2095 Roam has the Vagabond and with an Annex runs $2100. Dimensions show about the same minus a couple inches here and there. Does anyone has any info that would push one way or the other?

im not a fan of rtt with the extended fly. kinda blocks your view, can catch wind and lift the tent if you dont stake it down (happened on my kukeman with the rain fly popped up). but if you want the annex you kinda need it. i have an annex for my kukeman but its still sealed in the box, never used it

So I ordered the parts and received them. However, when measuring I forgot to account for the curve in the center of the camper (which is higher) than the tracks on the rail to mount the cross bar to. Did you just run spacers between the yakima tracks and the corner brackets to hole your crossbars up high enough off the camper?

    pic for reference.

Mine cleared the shell by an 1/8 inch. It is difficult for me to see how thick they will need to be. They make 1/4 inch thick plates that might work, or short sections of the 1 1/2 inch extrusions bolted under your crossbars that could work as well.

Can't say anything for those 2 but I have the ARB Simpson III RTT with annex and have to say, using the annex sucks. Getting it out and setting it up isn't so bad, its the packing up when its gotten dirty/muddy/sandy and trying to fit it back in the bag. Plus its just one more thing you have to lay out and clean before storing. Wife always wanted to take it for a privacy area but I convinced her that getting an actual privacy tent would be better so that is what we do now. Only time I would use the annex room now is if my tent was mounted on trailer and I was staying in place for near a week or at an event. If you're still sold on the annex room nothing wrong with knowing what you want. Just felt like giving my thoughts.

    So I’ve got a question.

I have a 2016 trd off road w bp51 kit and an are shell with total chaos bed stiffeners.

I have a tepui kukenam ruggedized and am wondering if I should get an uptop for the cab and mount the tent there or get one for the shell and mount it on the shell to save mpg possibly?

Any opinions or experience is greatly appreciated!

I was close to pulling the trigger on an annex when I bought my tent. You and others have confirmed the hassle I was trying to avoid.
