I run a Light&Motion TAZ1200 on my helmet and 2000 on my bars. The 2000 has more raw lumens, but the 1200 has the better throw, so I use it up top to see ahead on the trail. They have promos going relatively often so I can normally snag them at a healthy discount direct from them.

Looks like they updated it and called it the SECA now.

My riding buds and I ride at night 2-3 a wk cause of daytime jobs. I am a "BIG" Glowworm fan! 3400 on my helmet and 2500 on my bars, I can see really well and keep 90% of daytime speeds. It is pricey but thats what i do for the next 4 months so worth it to me. There are comparable lights and better lights for sure, some cheaper some more pricey but for the size to lumen ratio they're fantastic.
Action Industries is the US distributor (its a New Zealand Co.) and usually run a 25% Black Friday discount which saves some coin. Cant recommend highly enough.

I have the same problem -- vision isn't terrible can drive OK during day without, a bit nearsighted but I for sure have to wear my glasses when driving due to astigmatism, my eyes can't focus light at night. I wear rx oakley flak 2.0 xl glasses and actually just ordered clear lenses so I can wear them at night, I got a fatbike this winter and it's dark so early now :(
They are expensive AF, but so worth it for me. Could get the oakley transition type lens to put in them so you'd only need one set. It makes all the difference in the world.
I just went to eye doctor earlier this week and tried contacts for the first time - I'll actually be able to see through my goggles when snowboarding now lol

I use a zebralight on the helmet and a Magicshine on the bars. I do like the Zebra light setup because its a high cri model/somewhat warm, so colors are close to daylight. Will also carry a spare o-light and o-light bar mount for longer rides.

    Edit: On an old helmet.

I’m with you there.... I mostly ride roads with the occasional gravel ride. I’ve never ridden roads at night and don’t think I will. It’s bad enough in the daylight.

It's an oddly common (but still pretty rare ) occurrence to run into a mountain lion on our local trail network on dawn patrol / night rides. That's why I night ride a little farther out west where all there is is coyotes.

Yeah, hard no on night road rides.

Check out Roka, a bit on the expensive side but their stuff is so nice. I’m similar to you in that my glasses are mostly for astigmatism, I don’t even think they have any regular correction in them.

I have regular Roka riding glasses and have been meaning to order some prescription glasses from them. I did their home try on and their regular glasses seem way more durable than the ones I regrettably bought from the eye doctor (the sales man got me).

Yes it’s definitely nice hearing it haha. I got new glasses a few months ago and it was insane how much of a difference my new prescription was. I guess my astigmatism got worse over the years haha.

I have the Roka cp1x(tall lense) and they are easily the most comfortable riding sunglasses I’ve owned. I never wore the x-tigers cause they didn’t fit well, my Oakley sutro fog up like crazy, my old smith piv lock are okay but these Roka’s are just overall better haha. The regular glasses have different. They have nose pads you can switch out and rubber on the arms.

In the city, yeah I'd do a night ride short distance. But usually, the answer is no. On a back country road, hell naw.

In trails I know like the back of my hand, yeah I might consider it. But also, part of me riding is enjoying the outdoors with the view. I did a road trip from RI to Texas and back in July, my original plan was drive at night, explore places during the day. Flipped and instead drove during the day, happy I did - the amount of stuff I would have missed during the day just seeing, exploring, adventuring....Same thing goes on a bike. Seeing the mountains or trails or scenes in the distance, that's a part of it for me. :notsure:

Yeah we don't have mountain lions in Rhode Island.

....We don't have mountains in Rhode Island.

........We don't have hills in Rhode Island.
