The soft topper that came on my Taco is still in great shape. Still waterproof. But slightly UV bleached.
Can anyone recommend products for dyeing it black, protecting it from UV and waterproofing it?
Or can anyone list products that were ineffective or meh?
Thanks in advance for the help.

(in this case it is a PVC impregnated fabric but I know others are not)

303 protectant has been working great for my softopper (black).

I asked softopper the following: What products do you recommend for protecting the material's color, ensuring waterproofness and blocking UV? Mine is still in great shape and is still waterproof but looks to be slightly dulled from UV. I want to keep it in good shape.

    They responded:
For regular cleaning, just a laundry detergent is fine.
For a deeper clean, you can use Wolfstein's RaggTopp Vinyl Cleaner and Protectant. This is only to be used on the canopy - not the windows.
The windows should only be cleaned with a microfiber cloth and mild soap / water. Do not use any other chemicals or cleaners.

I asked: Is there a waterproofing you suggest, when it comes time?

    They added only:
It's a pvc waterproof coating on the fabric. There shouldn't be any need or reason to waterproof it.
The only product we recommend is the Wolfstein's RaggTopp Vinyl Cleaner and Protectant.

So it sounds like they want people to buy new ones. Dyeing the cloth on a convertible is pretty common.

Old thread I know, but was also curious about this. I bought a slightly Used soft topper for my third GEN Tacoma. It’s in good shape but I was curious also how to maintain it and keep the nice black look. I found these two sprayable vinyl die’s

    VHT Penetrating Vinyl Dye
    DupliColor Vinyl & fabric paint

is there anything else that would help protect and restore the nice black?

My new softopper is on the way. I am also curious what products will protect the black from fading. Doesn't look like much advice on this forum so far

I also used 303. Had bought mine used and somewhat faded. After using 303 on it, it looks brand new. The outside fabric is plenty water proof however for extra protection I used a seam sealant on the inside along the stitching.

I'm picking up a used grey softopper from Craiglist for a low price but I really wanted a tan one, which seems to be a unicorn and I've been using https://www.searchtempest.com/ for weeks, Softopper themselves is backed up for weeks so I'm gonna buy it used. Long story short-is it possible to dye the color from grey to tan or olive green etc. Anyone has done this before? Thank you.
