Sounds about right. Whole fuel system had to get replaced in one of our F450’s at work. $20k later we’re rolling down the road again. But we’re saving money with the Fords over Internationals. Only took $90k a year to maintain them (4) since our shop can’t work on shit and sends them to a big truck shop every time. What happened to diesel mechanics?? Can we have one???

 

Not sure, but I know people who are and they make the good money, although i think a lot are making the money on the larger construction equipment and mining stuff. If i decide i want say screw it i'll go back to automotive into the diesel sector

 

Well these guys are supposed to be diesel mechanics. They can work on a garbage truck but can’t seem to figure out a International ambulance. Dumb, just dumb.

Got the new wood splitter put away for the winter in the garage/shed . Peppermint oil on cotton balls and some glue traps around which I will replenish all winter . Dang rodents . Mice got in my DeWalt compressor last winter and parts are obsolete unfortunately. Sent it away for repair and came back still leaking air

 

where does it leak air from? and when does it leak?

 

Inside near the motor is where I hear it . As soon as you turn it on you can hear the air rushing out somewhere. Sent it right to DeWalt through the local lumber yard . Said they do not make parts for it it probably 7-8 years old ,pancake style.

 

Might be line needs tightened if its got a pinhole in tank then it got other issues

 

Dang, that sucks. I've had a couple issues with air compressors (Ridgid mostly) but usually because a valve failed somewhere. They didn't say from where it was leaking? Is it worth macgyvering it?

 

It all started in the spring ,it had a ton of mouse nest debris in it so I figured they chewed through something ( easy fix ) DeWalt says no

 

No ,just said they don’t make parts for it . I will have to take it apart one of these days and see what the deal is .

 

Laaammmeee. Even if they don't make parts for something, i still try to tell people what failed and if i can/cannot fix it. Usually I tell them that it is "fixable" but that i cannot do it because i cannot sign off on it.

 

They probably didn’t even try and fix it if they do not have parts . I will get to playing McGyver one of these days

 

TBH: i would do the same. Can warranty manufacturer parts and less liability if something goes wrong. On my own stuff...yeah, i'll do stupid stuff.

Yes Sir, It sure is. Used to be you couldn’t buy anything til after 11:00. Always attended services with my Dad before he passed on. Still remember the look in his eyes when I finally got his medals returned to him. He walked proud those last few years to the ceremonies. And Rightly So too.
