I just picked up my Tacoma 3 weeks ago, it's a SR/SX package with the V6 4x4. By far the best bang for your buck. It's my first non-Volkswagen in 15 years.

I got a question for all 2020/21 SR owners. Have any of you ever thought about adding the raptor light to our stock grille, I’m not a big fan of the TRD pro grille since so many people have them. I added a picture to show you guys where I would mount them
But not entirely sure if I would be down to drill the grille yet .

When I first bought the truck. I wondered how it would look. I've come to realize the raptor lights have been overdone. Just like the pro grille. I like the clean simple look of the SR grille.

    Just my $.02.

Fog light questions (yeah I know)… I want to add fogs with super bright LEDs (baja/rigid/KC???). I'm going to wire it to it's own switch. My question is what housing do I get? I'm confused by so many options. I like the design of the rigid one that comes on the Pro but don't think those are bright enough for what I'm after. I also don't want to be "that guy" that slaps Pro stuff on my SR lol.

Diode Dynamics SS3’s are the best performing and come with a housing. You’ll still need a bezel, either from the Off Road or SR5.

87, 92/93 are octane ratings. Octane is a measure of fuel stability under pressure. How much pressure before the fuel self detonates. (This is how a diesel engine works without spark plugs) Higher octane fuel is slower to detonate. So you can delay your spark later on in the stroke to get a little more power.

If your vehicle is not designed/programmed to take advantage of the higher octane fuel, its just a waste of money. Engine timing advances very slowly, but retards very quickly in our engines. If your engine can adjust timing for higher octane, it will take longer to get the full advantage. Several tanks of gas for example. However, it will detune instantly when it senses knock to prevent engine damage. The upside is that for engines that can adjust their timing for higher octane fuel, you will get more mileage out of the higher octane fuel offsetting the increased costs to some measure.

That being said, there are better grades of fuel. Top Tier gasoline has better detergents and additives and is better for your engine.

In order to be certified as Top Tier, a gasoline must pass a series of performance tests that demonstrate specified levels of: 1) deposit control on intake valves; 2) deposit control on fuel injectors; 3) deposit control on combustion chambers; 4) prevention of intake-valve sticking.

You can google and find the retailers participating in top tier fuels standard.

When it comes to ethanol, its the octane boosting additive that the corn lobby has forced us to use instead of MTBE (Methyl tert-butyl ether) or TEL (tetraethyl lead.) Ethanol attracts moisture, making it bad for carbureted engines and it also eats through fuel systems that aren't specifically designed for ethanol fuels.

Your Toyota is just fine with Ethanol and you don't need to worry about it unless you are leaving your truck sitting for a season and then just put a fuel stabilizer in there.

Mine idles roughly with 87 octane but is smooth with premium. What gives?

How old is the truck? How many miles? How clean are your valves? Is there buildup? What grade of gas are you running?

There are lots of factors, but if its an old truck and it is knocking then you could need maintenance like new sensors or fuel system cleaning. IDK, every case is different.

I had a mazda that had a timing belt change and they put the exhaust cam timing wrong and the thing knocked for years till I changed the belt and fixed the timing. Granted that engine had to be manually timed by adjusting the exhaust cam sensor while using a timing light.
