    Hi everyone,

I have a 2008 taco with the outlet in the bed. I’ve used it a time or two lately, and I’ve noticed it is very, very slow to charge or power things and can only power things that don’t demand a big charge. My truck has 203,000 miles.

Is this common for the Tacoma outlets? Or could it be that my battery or system that powers the outlet is old or needs replacement?

If anyone has experience with these outlets, please let me know. Thank you!

Read the manual. The outlet supplies only 100W while driving and 400W parked. Most household outlets with 12A breaker can supply 1300-1400W. What are you trying to charge or run?

To add on, it can do 100W while parked if the engine isn't running, but it'll only do 400W if it is running and parked. (My understanding anyway)

I did use to try to charge my cell phone, but now I just use a portable charger because the outlet wasn’t powerful enough.

why convert DC to AC and back to DC. Just charge right from the usb or 12v outlet in the truck.
