Snow is falling in the Rockies and the Sierras, and it has me getting ready to hit the slopes soon. How do others carry around their equipment in the back? Looking for ideas of my own for organizing hard goods (skis, boots, crampons, ice picks, etc), soft goods (jackets, gloves, helmet, etc) and wanted to see what others were doing.

Do you have a ski rack / roof box? I’m thinking of doing one or the other.

I’m planning on taking the mattress out and replacing the camping gear on my bottom level with a drawer for for wet/snowy equipment, and keeping the jackets etc up top in a bin.

How did you mount the skis to the side of the bed? I’m trying to figure out a good way to keep them from sliding around in the back.

MOLLE and straps. Might not work with longer skis, tbh - my 145cm ones are right at the edge of the 5' bed.

Maybe drill some holes if you have a shell? Or you know, rack mounts.

Yeah it's gonna be pure backwoods, no lift / no patrol skiing this year as far as I can tell. So XCd gear.

I was a patroller too at one point! Nice to hear other NSPers are on here.

Off-piste is going to be the way to go this season I think. I can’t imagine, even with the mountains opening under COVID restrictions, that there will be a full resort season.

Here’s my quiver. If you can’t tell, I have a preference for a certain Colorado based brand... I couldn’t pass up the Bent Chetlers though, they’re mega in the deep stuff.
