Ford Power Stroke

So now that International isn't making the engine for the Ford Diesels anymore and it's all gone In-house all I can saw is wow. This thing is quiet, fast and ridiculously powerful. Still trying to see if there is a hi-idle for this bastard to keep it warm in the cold canuck north, but so far it's not too bad for weather here. Only -7 yo -12ºC at night. Around midday it gets to -1ºC so keeping the boot down on the skinny pedal for 2-3 minutes warms it right it up.

One thing I really like about the FX4 is the drive train controls. Same kind of 4x4 knob like we have, but if you want to engage the Locking Differential, you just pull the knob out towards you and voila! Locker engaged. Did I forget to mention you can pull that fucker out any time and it will lock? 4x2, 4Hi, 4low, doesn't matter.

Are you listening Toyota? All round, I'm really quite impressed with the over all quality of this beast.

Fords r reliable. Funny thing is that all my parents n family drive r Fords and I ended up with a Yota and my sis a Jeep Commander.

 

we used to have a 2009 F450 King Ranch ......

probably the nicest truck ive ever driven .......

Dont get me wrong toyotas and tacomas are certainly sweet but fords have far superior fit and finish

There are 4 of them, but I'll be damned if I'm going to start fucking with the company truck.

 

I monkeyed with them, but I can't remember if I had the engine running at the time or not. Give it a shot in the next few days. I remember on the Dodge it was easy. Cruise control on -> Set. High idle begins.

 

Usually the high idle is strung in with the cruise control settings, since they run off of the RPM.

 

Don't they have a front locker? Were you get out and twist the knob in the hub?

 

Just rear. The auto/lock on the hub is just if you want to manually lock front all the time regardless of what the dial inside says.

My dad just got an F150. Wow, do I feel like I got ripped off! His truck was 10000$ cheaper with all the Ford incentives. My next truck will be an F150.
But back on topic....The new PSD engine is a truly cutting edge engine, and given Ford's current engineering success, It will probably be a winner. I don't think they just went through all the lawsuits with Navistar, just to manufacture their own piece o'junk!
How 'bout the new F150 Base engine? Better mileage, more hauling, and almost the same towing capacity as a Tacoma! Crazy.

 

I like those new 6.7 liters (scorpions). The turbo design is new and actually located above the motor in between the cylinders IIRC.

My question is how much fun and money will the urea injection be?

 

Imagine sticking a few mod's on the 6.7. That thing is gonna make some power!

 

Not to mention they get really good mileage in stock form, and I'm sure can get even getter with a new intake and take some of the emission controls off (like the urea injection/exhaust filter setup)

 

I have no idea how big that urea tank is but the filler hole for it is tiny and apparently it goes months without needing refilling. Maybe I'll see if I can score a picture of the engine bay later today.
