So. I recently replaced lower radiator hose, idler pulleys, water pump, serpentine belt, and thermostat. I apparently didn't have the belt on the water pump pulley all the way on (and it rubbed the belt where it goes around the crankshaft pulley) or it was twisted (which I don't think I would have missed), because after 2 days the belt shredded. I got the truck home and commenced to removing all the belt peices from the engine bay and behind pulleys. I got the new belt on (all the way on), started the truck, and now have a leak at the power steering shaft seal. I'm assuming the serpentine belt peices I removed from behind the pulley messed up the seal (or I did removing them).
Anyways..... I'm wondering if anyone tried replacing that seal without removing the pump. Also....I only took a quick look, but, if I do need to pull the pump out.... is it bolted in with the water pump? I really don't want to pull all that off again

2005 original pump? You can try a “seal renew additive”, it will get you some time.

I've had the truck for 5 years (175k of the 309k is mine). Not sure if it's the original pump. I saw the additive. It refurbishes old seals right? I believe mine is probably damaged, so....
