I am about to get a short bed tacoma. I think I am more or less decided on getting the decked system as it is relatively low cost compare to a tonneau cover, such as the diamondback. The concerns holding me back are the weight of the system and power outlet access:

    1. with a 200lb base weight will it be necessary to upgrade my stock springs, assuming that I have about 100lb of gear in the drawers at all times? So that’s at least 300lb loaded at all times.
    2. I understand I can maintain access to the bed power outlet if I add an extension. Will this be safe from water penetration as the power cap will remain slightly open due to the cord. Or is there a better solution now available?

If you have a TRD Off road package, you will most likely want to add a leaf minimum. With 300 lbs in my long bed I was hitting bump stops at any small bump no matter how slow I was going.

What are you planning on powering with the outlet?

Thanks, I think a tonneau is probably going to be a better option as I don’t want to deal with the weight and associated mods
