I’m looking to change my suspension setup and hoping to get 3rd gen feedback since most threads google finds are 2nd gen guys and there’s a lot of debate over heavier coils for 3rd gens. Also not seeing much feedback from “slightly” heavy trucks.

I currently have the Icon extended travel non resi with the original 13” 650 lb coils. I also have full aluminum skids (including LCAs), SSO slim bumper with high clearance corners, 9500# winch with synth rope, x2power g27 battery, and sliders.

I’m under the typically recommended 200 extra lbs but still sagging a lot. Right now I’m above recommended preload on the driver side and right under it on passenger side despite both sides still being ~21” eye to eye.

It seems like 14” 700 lb springs might be too much since I don’t have a full bumper and steel skids.

I’m also considering just selling the Icons and buying King 700# RR COs, thinking the difference in valving might offset the extra spring rate. I doubt if I need the RR but King doesn’t make an IFP and other brands seem to cost almost the price of RRs to swap to a heavier coil.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Never got any feedback and thought I'd follow up. I finally got around to installing 700# King coils, only put 5-10 miles on it so far but wow the ride is so much better and not at all harsh as I was afraid of.

You can see in the picture I went from a little more than 2.5” of threads on the DS to 1”, so the 650s were sagging well over 1/2”. Haven't taken any pictures of the truck but I'm actually sitting a little higher now. Waiting on some Dakars to arrive this week to raise the rear then level it back out.

I have a ARB bumper with no winch right at #170lbs. I had 5100's set at 3 and 4 with 888's and they sagged really bad so now I have ADS 2.5 with #700 springs. The ride is so much better!
