I was gonna mention that but didn't want to join in on the cat fight. Its a nice build, but the whole 3rd gen inferior to 2nd gen nonsense is nonsense.

Overall I’m perfectly happy with mine and I know there’s certainly a lot of nicer things on the 3rd gens. My weather stripping whistles in strong crosswinds, hopefully they’ve fixed that by now.

They are both great trucks, I loved my 1st, 2nd and 3rd gens, all of them have their quirks, no whistles yet on mine, but I knew about the channel issue from losing mine on my 08 one time and the cab is unchanged from 2nd to 3rd gen.

All posts have to be read in a defensive manner after a troll has posted.

You know the rules here man.

I just bolted my weather stripping down with a Prinsu. I assume it's still there. I am also going to assume it's still black...

Left you speechless eh? I don't blame you.

Are you kidding me? I bought my truck brand spanking new and paid it off already, so why would I make the mistake of burying myself in another 35K+ of debt a third time in my life if there is nothing wrong with my current one that I would deem unsolvable at this point?

Financial priorities bud. I stand in a different arena than you do regarding that topic it seems like.

Truthfully speaking every vehicle gen has its own set of issues and quirks and that's just always been a thing and always will be as long as it is mass produced. I just get more upset about the apparent dwindling quality that is imposed on new builds by these manufacturers while charging rising premier prices for non premier products, so they mask it with pretty colors and names for the colors and gimmicks to make you feel like you get "value" from it. I work on these new vehicles all the time for a living and its immediately obvious how thrifty these manufacturers are with all their cost cutting down to soy based wiring. It's getting bad.

The initial comment was just a troll because it's fun more than anything. Trolling is one thing, however, insulting someones financial capabilities is another and as you can see some of the new owners/ members here like to take cheap shots.

My 2nd gen is not all that well built either and I'm not horribly happy to the point where I'm screaming at the top of mountains how much I love it with it, but hey it's reliable and that's all that counts for me.

Things to take away from this post: At the end of the day all I'm saying is that when Toyota decides to use the same forged piston return springs and headliner gaskets as they did in the 2nd gen then let's talk.

You having a 12 and not owning a 3rd gen really can't bash a 3rd. I have owned both and I am proud of you for paying off your truck. Good job!

No whistles in mine. I believe the 3rd gens are also supposed to be 40% quieter inside as well.
