I have started to notice a weird and fairly loud creak/grind sound when I make a left turn over bumps. It sounds like it’s my driver side wheel area. Happens on these occasions:

    • If I flip a u turn at speed
    • If I go over a bump at speed at anything greater than a 45 degree turn angle it will be a loud enough creak/grind that I can hear it over music.

Everything is stock except trd 4Runner pro wheels and tires are 265/70/17. I checked for tire rubbing, but didn’t see anything.

I will do some more tests today, was just wondering if anyone with more expertise than me has any tips or can help me pin point it. Checked other threads, but most we’re about clunks.

    Thanks in advance

Anyone else experience this? I have an almost grinding sound when I turn left and hit a bump, even a small elevation change like turning left into my driveway. It's driving me crazy...

I’ve heard a clunk a few times while turning over a bump. Mostly when I turn right but sometimes left. I cleared out my glovebox and that’s Seemed to stop it although it sounds metallic and not like a stack of manuals sliding around. Doesn’t happen enough for me to care.

that being said how old is your truck? Any mods? Last time I had creak turning over a bump it was just the chassis flexing. It was a Nissan NV200 unibody. I know BoF platforms don’t suffer but there could be a good chance something is making contact or your wheel bearing is going out.

My truck is a 2020 Pro with 18k on it. The only mod I've done is add the SDHQ winch mount and winch to the front. I'm wondering if that increased weight is wearing something out too quickly... At the time of install I measured and had no sag in the front from the added weight.

Hand tight lug nuts? I recently diagnose something similar and found that the previous mechanic had hand tightened the lug nuts.

Check to make sure your sway bar isn't rubbing on the radiator support brackets. I had this issue and sounds exactly like what you described.
