    Thanks Bill. You could be right but I read no such indication.

    Some states don't allow this. The thinking is that people would just run down deer rather than hunt…

    Haha I know, surprisingly I think California finally allowed it to be legal. What’s funny is hunting is hard enough, let alone “weaponizing” your vehicle into a deer slayer. The only place it might be possible to actually aim your vehicle at a deer and strike it is in the Santa Cruz mountains. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to stop and honk or scream at them, and they just look at you like you’re crazy. lol, obviously they have no hunting pressure on them eating the plants and grass at multi million dollar homes in the Silicon Valley. They just cruise around here like they own the place.

    Not trying to be a prick, but are you saying that in the police report the officer described that the deer came up on your truck and struck it? I grew up in a rural area and have seen many animals struck by vehicles on the road. I do not recall ever when an animal came up on a vehicle and struck it. Semantics I know, but an important distinction.

    Pretty clear that you don't have to try.

    LEO didn't witness any of the incidents. They transcribed each of the events as I already accurately described.

    CT has more deer then any state in the north east I’m from mass but only see them occasionally. I’ve been working in torrington unfortunately and to get to 84 I take 197. I swear in the morning I see 5-6 deer everyday and have had 2 run out in the road at me luckily not right in front of me but every morning I feel like it’s gonna happen. And sorry OP that sucks.

    That’s actually on the expensive side around here since it’s right off the highway. Most places are around $1.85/gal for regular. This is in southern MA.

    I don’t know what’s more alarming, Bambi or the 1.95 gas. I wish it was even remotely close to that price here. 3 plus here. By the way, sorry about the truck OP! Hopefully all goes well with the repairs. Take care.

    It is possible. I've had two deer run. Into the side of my truck. The first one was before I had even made the first payment on it. The second was 3 weeks ago.

    Bummer. I know it's not much consolation but you can only be glad you weren't injured in these scenarios. Squirrels are smarter than these huge lemmings.

    I know I am blessed. It is still drivable. And only a 500.00 deductible. It goes to the body shop in a week.

    I've had a doe run into the driver's side window. I've been in a car where the deer ran into the driver's side fender and then tumbled over the hood. A local cyclist was KILLED by a deer that ran into him riding on the parkway a few years ago.

    Deer are especially dangerous this time of year. If a doe runs across the road, there's a good chance a buck is in pursuit. At any time of year, if a deer crosses the road, there's a good chance another couple will follow. If anyone wonders why hunting is important, this is part of it.

    Sorry to see this OP, hope the repairs get sorted quickly.

    Interbeing you are wrong. I'm with Red Alert on this one 100%. Humans and animals run/walk into vehicles all the time;
    1985 on my way to work huge ass raccoon rams into my passenger side and walks away causing serious damage to my passenger door;
    1994 driving to the Commissary, seven year old girl WALKS into the passenger side of my vehicle and trashes the door;
    2005 driving on Post (base) Deer jumps out of the woods and smacks into the passenger side, breaking my mirror.

    There was much damage not "less" as you say, when these humans/animals smashed into me. Hope this never happens to you....

    A huge raccoon slammed into your door? Not calling bullshit at all, just saying that has to be a big ass coon. They're like 10 inches tall. (Generally speaking, of course.)

    OP I'm sorry this happened to you, hopefully the damage isn't too serious and can be quickly repaired.

    Here in So.Cal. I live 15 mins away from the Cleveland National Forest complete with a canyon road which winds through it. I used to commute via that road and never saw any Deer, however I've met people who have, my Boss even witnessed a guy in front of him run into one so they're out there.

    However a month ago I was in Moab and daily we saw Deer in-town, generally in the evenings. We took mainly back roads going to and from Moab from St. George and in Zion and Bryce we saw a ton of Deer. It got to the point that it almost became routine and one of my friends suggested that instead of making an annual off-roading trip to Utah, we may want to change it to a hunting trip LOL!

    In my neck of the woods they're out and about 24/7, but especially at dawn & dusk. And like @ret42 said, when one comes out onto the road there's almost certainly more to follow.
