These are great lights that simply need to be utilized responsibly. As an earlier post noted, just use them like high beams. If you're doing a lot of driving on dark country roads, they're great, especially when it comes to megafauna hazards. Just turn them off as a courtesy if there's oncoming traffic. That said, if you're doing most of your driving in town, use won't use them too much; however, when you do need them, they'll be very effective.

It does depend on where OP is located, too, guys.

Here in AZ, we have no real *need* for fog lights, so most guys swap in Off Road lights in the fog pockets and use them... off road.

I did get tickled at the man, the myth, the legend @crashnburn80 being referred to as a "naysayer" though by an internet random. @aldoj.v You do you, be safe and courteous, enjoy your lights, and remember that if you ever need advice or input on aftermarket LED lights, just know that crashnburn80 is the guy to listen to.

Fogs have a very specific designed purpose. It is to cast a low and very wide beam with sharp cut offs to help illuminate the edge of the roadway in poor weather conditions, without reflecting light back at the driver or blinding other drivers. The Baja lights do not have sharp cut offs, meaning they will reflect light back at the driver in poor weather conditions as well as blind oncoming drivers meaning you cannot use them on the road when poor weather conditions require it. In actual severe fog they will be blinding to the driver by illuminating a wall of fog, rather than keeping the beam low to prevent that.

CaliRaised is even worse. The beam is a spot, no cut offs and way to narrow to assist in seeing anything on the shoulder. They will provide no help in poor weather conditions.

To help illustrate this, here is the OEM TRD Pro Rigid Fogs. Note the wide low pattern with a defined cut off to illuminate the shoulder and minimize light reflected back at the driver in poor weather.

Here is the CaliRaised pattern. Clearly going to be a real winner in illuminating the shoulder in poor weather to keep you on the road like all other real fogs.

Here is Bajas wide cornering. Nice and wide and no cut offs at all, blinding oncoming traffic and the driver by reflecting light off the precipitation in actual poor weather. Awesome off road light, very poor attempt at a fog light for poor weather use and definitely something that shouldn't be run on the street with other traffic.

Certainly not everyone needs fogs. And there is nothing wrong with running off road lights in the fog position for off road use only. But for those looking for actual poor weather performance and being able to use the lights on the street where they are actually useful, an SAE fog is the correct answer.

I replaced my factory fog lights with off road lights...because in AZ we have fog like once every 10 years for about 8 minutes.

The BD Squadrons are an awesome trail light, and provide the perfect in-fill for my S8 light bar at night, dust visibility during the day...but I definitely don't run them on the street
