I just purchased a 2011 tacoma sport and it comes with 3 months free of XM which I'm not a big fan of due to the antenna... I can being driving and it just lose signal of a sudden for like 2-3 minutes, so needless to say I"m not a big fan of the antenna set up... Also the stock radio only has 6 presets whereas my sirius stargate has like 10 with artist alerts, song alerts, game alerts etc and you can rewind... .Anyway this is my question, will the sirius starmate be compatable with the stock head unit??? I was going to swing by best buy and see if they could install my old one with a new antenna and new wiring but i figure I ask here first before I waste a trip.

I'm pretty sure its not, but I could be wrong. I have a Sirius receiver, and I just plug it into the aux port. But I use the stock Sat. antenna cause I did'nt want to have another one stuck on there. I like a clean look, nothing extra. It works fine for me, doesn't cut out. Maybe its just Xm satelites where they are positioned to you.
You could get Sirius installed and use the stock head unit but you have to get that box. I can't think of whats tis called at the moment.

I think it should say in the owners manaual if its HD radio compatable.. Since it already has a feed for the antenna i'm not to worried about that, it's where the receiver plugs in the back of the head unit... ohh well won't find out until you try.. I'll find out and let you guys know. .
