They know if we need a manual, we will buy one even if doesnt come with JBL. Its just the sad truth haha! I guess they just trying to save money wherever they can, just like getting rid of cubbies in the box.

Heck, i bought a sport, originally wanted an OR. No OR in DCSB MT offered here in canada. No regrets though, love my truck.

This is how I see it, and I predominately drive manuals.

The price difference for the manual doesn't compensate for all of the tech you'll miss out on. I say get an auto and the tune. Thats my plan at least.

I'd test drive a manual first and see if it "Rev Hangs". My 2016 Jeep JKUR did that and it helped me decide to get rid of it. So I got my 2020 Tacoma since I wanted to be lazy, in auto and found a 08 Honda Element with a manual. This is the only reason I mention this since what your currently driving, will be a similar feel. First drive in the Element had me grinning ear to ear. Test drive is a must just to make sure the tacoma is not susceptible to a weird feeling in the higher rev's.

Also, pulling a dirt bike on my aluminum trailer behind my Jeep, 180 miles north from Las Cruces to Albuquerque and back (even at 300lbs empty) made for some 3rd gear shift just to keep at only 65mph both directions through the hill sections. Now, I just turn up the stereo and don't even glance at the rpms.

I’m pretty smooth, but some people still can’t stand it. And like I said, it’s one thing to drive that smooth sometimes, it’s another when they’re with you the majority of the time. Not fun to drive smooth the majority of the time.

Manual actually doesn't get worse MPG (at least city driving) if you use it to minimize gas consumption - few people would drive it like that though. Not much fun.
But if you don't like shifting, well, that's the end of the story right there. Somehow you can't get around that with an MT, it seems.

Maybe, maybe not. My 08 MT FJ is the sole reason I didn't even bother looking at an MT Taco. I know it's different and the MT Taco I drove was much smoother and nicer, but man my FJ MT was a turd. Loved everything about that truck except the tranny.

The larger rear gearing is the main reason for the worse MPG. Apples to apples, the manual should get better MPG. The EPA estimates have the MT at 1 worse city, 1 worse HWY, but 2 worse combined. But that's also probably pretty dependent on your driving. Hard to be any easier on the highway though without simply reducing speed.

so I live in NJ... I have an Automatic, I surely enjoy driving auto in NYC, but I would like to drive a manual on the suburban roads in south jersey... I havent driven a manual in awhile, maybe like 3 yrs ago when I drove this co-worker new Kia Soul.. but I will get a manual next one to teach my son later on.
