I have a 2013 2.7l, and my truck just back from having the safety recall done on the catalytic converter. Now, my understanding is only the front should have been replaced, but it looks like they may have replaced the back cat too. Has anyone done this safety recall and had both cats replaced?

My 2013 had the whole pipe replaced as well. It's all one assembly from Toyota, it's all welded together. The bolts just hold on the heat shield.

Thanks for the confirmation. This is contrary to what I’ve read and what the service department told me. They were surprised when I pointed out both cats were replaced. Mind you, they were not the service techs.

I don't know if the rear one is a cat or just a resonator. If it was a cat, I would think it would have a heat shield as well since the cat gets a lot hotter than a resonator or muffler and would run the risk of starting a field or forest fire when out on the trails.
