How different are the same brand shocks that come with different brands of LT kits? For example, A Camburg kit with Fox shocks vs a Total Chaos kit with Fox shocks.

They each have their own spec shock which vary in lengths slightly.

If you’re building a first gen any short body 8” coilover can work. I’m guessing this is a 2nd / 3rd gen truck though.

i think some of them can also come with internal spacers to limit the 8" coilover. I've been told total chaos specs theres that way.

@Dirt King Fab Can you guys shed any light on this? I think your guys shocks are spec'd to travel more than some others, Also you guys don't utilize the King aluminum tophat...

I do believe my Camburg coilovers were spec'd to have an internal spacer to limit the travel to 7.5".

Dirt King (+3.5) coilovers on left, Baja Kits (+2) on right.

both are a 2.5x8, use different rod ends though.

You would have to ask them what they have theres spec'd for. I think mostly what it will come down to is rod end and wether or not theres a internal spacer to limit travel.

Would both of those shocks mount to the top in the OEM location of the truck? Those look like they mount up like OEM replacement COs

I was under the impression, or convinced myself that LT shocks needed a new mounting location isntalled on the truck, and was part of the LT kit.

Most of the front LT kits you will find from Total Chaos, Camburg, Dirt King, Baja Kits will use the OE coilover mount. If you choose to add a bypass, then a secondary shock hoop will need to be welded on, along with new lower control arms.
