I want to get "future proof" wheels for my 2008 TRD Sport before I get my lift if possible? I'm prerty set on my new wheels. Right now I'm running 265/70R17 tires on my stock 7.5" deep wheels. Haven't decided on a 3" or 6" lift yet just due to money and JUST bought the truck a month ago. So question is, what size wheels to get that would look right when lifted and offer me the larger tire choices (after lifting). I won't be doing any super serious off-roading, if that helps. Looking at possibly the Kumho Venture M/T KL71 as my first tires after.

First thought was the 17x9, but with the 0mm offset and 9" width, will they fit my truck without spacers and the existing 265/70R17 tires before I add the bigger tires and lift?

    Mickey Thompson Sidebiter Wheel Specs:

Part # Size Appx.Weight Bolt Circle Back Spacing Offset(mm) Load Capacity Replacement Cap

    158411 15x8.0 24 6x5.5 3.31 -30mm 2,000 401517

    150411 15x10 28 6x5.5 3.5 -53mm 2,500 401517

    168412 16x8.0 26 6x5.5 4.5 0mm 2,500 401517

    179412 17x9.0 30 6x5.5 5 0mm. 2,500 401517

you are going to want 4.5" backspacing (backspacing is calculated using rim width and rim offset). With 4.5" backspacing, you can fit 265's now and switch to 285's once you lift.

The only ones you posted above that have 4.5" backspacing are the 16x 8's.

The 15's won't fit your truck at all due to brake caliper rubbing. some aftermarket 16's will also rub on the calipers so I'd check to see if anyone has these particular wheels in the 16x8, to be sure they don't rub the calipers.

The 17x9's have 5.0 backspacing. You'll be able to fit 265's with those, but will need wheel spacers to run 285's.

Thank you. I'll go with the 17s than and than run Spidertrax when I get my 285s. Have you seen the wheels? What do you think? Mines Super White as well. Gonna turn the white tire letters in on my current tires.

The problem with that is that the 17's have 5.0 backspacing.

If you get spidertrax, which are 1.25", that will effectively change the backspacing to 3.75". That will be too little backspacing (stick out too far), and the outer edge of the tires will rub the fender while turning.

Do all those have about the same specs for backspacing?
