YOU WILL BE MISSED Satoshi Grill, FX-R retros, husky liners, bed bolt d-rings, TRD short throw shifter, 2.5 Fox Coil overs, AP UCA's, AP Expo rear leaf with Fox 2.0 shocks, Extended SS brake lines, AP kick-out sliders, 265/75/16 on Konig Countersteers, AllPro Apex front bumper and Zip Ties.
Whatever happend to the 919's? They were a pretty neat naked bike. The suspension was a little week but I thought the concept and styling was desirable.

All depends on what you want to do.
1/4 and top speed, race replicas like the CBR1000RR should be faster.
For curves and cornering, the I would guess the CB1000R would do better just because the flat handle bars and upright seating give you more leverage.

Not always the case of course, just saying in general.

To me the naked bikes give you more usable, real world performance for commuting and all around fun.

They were good looking I agree but naked bikes don't do as well in America as they do in other parts of the world which is why the manufactures don't bring them over here. Or they end up selling them here for a few years then dropping them from our market.

Most riders don't have the skills for this question to really matter. I know I don't.

The question to ask is...which bike is easier to ride faster? ;)

I've owned a GSX-R750 and ridden a handful of other late model sportbikes. The GSX-R and CBR600 are so easy to rail corners in. The bike falls into and goes exactly where you want it to. I'd be entering corners quick and then realize mid-corner that I could've gone a lot quicker.

On the flipside, with a sportbike I'd be ready for an extended coffee break or just be done riding altogether by the time I got out to some roads worth riding on.

For me, the compromise between performance, handling, and all-day comfort is what makes the sport standard such a winner. Its exciting because this class of bike is becoming tech-heavy like the sportbikes so there is less compromise in choosing between the two.

The 919 was such a great bike and so easy to ride!

They stopped selling these in the US in '07. The CB1000R was sold in the European market as the replacement for the 919 from 2008 to now. The CB1000R is not a new bike, but its new to the US for 2011 :)
