But JL’s are so nice it might be worth the rebuild which is what I’d consider if affordable!!!

I’ve also purchased bad fuses brand new out of the box before and they where skyhigh’s. Of course they had me running around like an idiot thinking it was everything else till it took another basshead the patients to say let’s test those fuses again lol!!!

I have some experience with car audio. My first guesses would be; bad RCA’s/Line output, bad ground connection, head unit settings, master/slave switch, fuse.. unfortunately I had a JL Slash 500/1 that had the same issue with green light on but no sound and after a bench test we concluded the outputs were not functioning.

Did you have yours repaired after the output failure? And if so what was the cost of repair. I know JL will repair for a fee at their contracted in-house repair facility.

@Unaverage_Taco I did not have mine repaired, more or less gave it away since I use my Skar SK2500 as my daily and DC9k when the weather is nice. I looked it up and it should be in the ballpark of $200 or less for amp repair according to their website. JL is the only authorized persons to be repairing their products I’m pretty sure.

You may be right on JL only touching their amps, I’m not 100% since I’ve never had one of their amps repaired, only SunDown and old school Kickers lol!!! I’ve had mixed emotions on the Skar amps had an 2k that didn’t do too well but the SKV four channel ran great. Been running Brazilian boards for a while now and I like them for efficiency but sql did suffer. If it was my deal I’d buy another secondary amp and probably pay to have this one repaired if I could have it done for less than 150.00

Since we are on the subject of JL and amps...I might be selling my 4 channel but I would take it to get repaired as there is a low ohm light on. Came with my rig.

If it’s not one of their flagship amps I think you can expect to pay around 80-150. You can mail your amp to them and they will tell you how much it is then you can decide to have it fixed, mailed back as-is or donate it back to them

ermm I think low ohm means your speakers voice coil(s) ohms are wired too low or you have speakers wired up in parallel. Those 4ch amps are only good for 2ohms if you run them at 1ohm it could overheat and become dysfunctional.

If you dig the clean sound out of them their pretty hard to be beat and are probably worth the cost of repair. I liked them better than my Memphis and mean machine amps about 10years agos.

Sounds about right...the amp runs hotter than a mother...I'll be changing it out soon

@roguegs you won’t find many amps that can run door speakers at 1ohm, if this one does it the next one probably will too if you don’t match your amp and speakers **RMS** power. Most JL amps have the ability to run 2,3, and 4 ohm loads at full power which hardly any other amplifier can do (Rockford BDCP amps also can but for a STEEP price).

Let me look at my garage and get back to you. I know I’ve got a 500watt Mono JL but I haven’t tested it or benched it since I’ve picked it up used and it under your desired wattage anyway but i know I’ve got a few more on the shelf.

My sundown 1100 x 5 is pretty forgiving but your right matching is key.
